These interviews are of two middle-aged women, from India &Bangladesh respectively. The interviews were conducted in August 2017, in New Delhi, India. I took the opportunity to speak with the women who helped raise me, who have been female role models to me since childhood. I have grown up hearing these stories, but it wasn’t until recently I understood the potency & urgency that these stories carried with them. These are not just fables. These are someone’s realities. I do not claim to know everything there is to know about child marriage, child labour, poverty or illiteracy — I am trying to know.
